Arequipa was founded in 1540 by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro. Due to its strategic location in the commercial route of minerals between Potosi and Spain, many Hispanics of Basque origin settled down in this cozy lands.
CATHEDRAL OF AREQUIPA´S CITY
Considered to be one of the first religious centers of the 17th century in the city. It is of neoclassic style.
MAIN SQUARE OF AREQUIPA
Surrounded by the Cathedral and diverse portals, the Main Square presents a beautiful fountain of bronze of three cups crowned by the figure of a soldier of the 16th century.
SANTA CATALINA MONASTERY
Built to shelter the daughters of the most distinguised families from the city, the monastery was inaugurated on October 2nd, 1580.
CHIVAY AND COLCA VALLEY
In Chivay, the capital of Caylloma's province, they find the thermal baths of The Calera. In Chivay there is a varied offer of tourist services, then Cabanaconde and the Cross of the Condor, viewing-point from where it is possible to estimate the majestic flight of this beautiful bird and the depth of the Cannon of the Colca, in this river you can practice the canoeing in rafts, canoes and kayaks.
Located in the village of Sabandía. Sabandía Mill constructed in 1785, it represents the typical architecture of the region.
